All levels tackle Candlebark course at Easter event
KEEN horse trials riders headed for the Riddells Creek Horse Trials to spend two days over Easter at the famous Candlebark property.
The event caters for young horses and pony club riders and has been a great training ground for young horses over good courses for 16 years.
It combines open classes with pony club at all levels. This makes for a busy and happy competition, not the least for the reason that the entire course can be watched from the vantage point near the caterers.
Sarah Boatwood with Taysar Style used their good jumping ability to rise from seventh after dressage to win the open grade one section by three points from Georgina Birrell and Terminal Velocity. Terminal Velocity was equal first after dressage his slower cross-country time cost him the win.
The Pony Club grade one was equally close with just one point separating J'Aime Mallon’s ESB Golden Chuckle and Chanel Radburn’s Harry.
In the 110cm classes, Mackenzie Downing and Wildoak Rockafella won the pony club section and Danica Bordignon’s Zigstar won the open.
Grade two winners were Jasmyn Beesley on Jazdan Spellbound and Rohan Luxmoore riding LH Valentino.
In grade three, Michelle Woodcroft’s DeGroot won the pony club section and the open had two divisions, won by Bianca Austin’s WB Kaleidoscope, Maddison Williams’ It’s Your Round.
Grade four is always filled to the brim and the pony club section winners were Eden Schultze’ Hilton Millenium Star and Lauren Dunn’s Final Strike. The open winners were Sharen Gotts’ Sharvalley Balou and Regina Knobel’s Hillview Park Black Flash.
There were pony club sections for grade five and six where the not so brave and miniscule members get to try horse trials.
Brodie Haliday and BLT banjo won grade five and Abbey Brinkhuis’ Honky were grade six winners.
