A FINE line-up of Riding Ponies at the NSW State Riding Pony Show at Hawkesbury is proof of how popular the breed has become since it arrived in Australia in 1973.

Organisers were pleased with the number of pre-entries (85) plus there was a well-supported enter-on-the-day open and open show hunter ring.

A good mix of junior and experienced ponies was on show under saddle, with a pleasing number of ponies ridden by children.

The show had a happy and friendly feel and it was obvious the committee had worked hard to gather sponsors and competitors to ensure it was a good event.

The lovely chestnut mare Dirigeree Park Makin Music owned by Tim Hadlow and shown by Michael Gates won the supreme led pony rug and garland.

Long-time pony breeder Kerry Dunstan showed the champion led colt, Malibu Park Top Cut.

Roseanne Bowerman’s gelding Rathown Ruben is building up an impressive resume for a 2020 baby, adding the champion youngstock gelding and best led show pony gelding sash to a collection that already has a Sydney Royal win in it.

The supreme ridden show hunter pony and winner of the Deborah Bell Memorial Trophy was Beauford Tiffany shown by the Crawford twins.

The committee has another show planned for Sunday, February 5, at Hawkesbury.
